11.11. URL Categories

The URL categories library item allows you to create UserGate URL Filtering category groups for more convenient use in content filtering rules. For example, the administrator can create a category group called "Business categories" and place the desired categories there.

To use UserGate URL Filtering categories, you need an appropriate license.

A predefined list is supplied with the product. The administrator can add the desired items during use.

A set of categories recommended for blocking based on network security considerations.

Parental Control

A set of categories recommended for blocking in order to protect children from unwanted content.

Productivity

A set of categories recommended for blocking in order to increase employee productivity.

Safe categories

A set of categories considered safe. It is recommended to disable morphology checking and HTTPS traffic interception for this category group in order to reduce false triggers.

Recommended for morphology checking

A set of categories recommended for morphology checking. Excludes categories such as "News", "Finance", "Government", "Information security", "Children websites", and others in order to reduce false triggers. The same set of categories is also recommended for HTTPS traffic interception.

Recommended for virus check

A set of categories recommended for virus checking.

To add a new category group, follow these steps:

Step 1. Create a category group.

In the URL category groups pane, click Add and give a name to the new group.

Step 2. Add categories.

Highlight the group just created, click Add in the Categories pane, and select the desired categories from the list.
