Update and Lifecycle Policy for Usergate Solutions and Products

The UserGate software update and lifecycle policy for UserGate hardware and software systems is based upon recommendations regarding the maintenance and support lifecycle of UserGate solutions and products.

The goal of this policy is to standardize and streamline the methods we use to maintain the lifecycle of UserGate solutions and products in order to help our customers make informed choices as to purchasing, maintaining, and updating existing UserGate solutions and products.

This policy applies to all existing UserGate solutions and products. Customers who purchase and use our solutions and products under a valid support agreement are entitled to the benefits provided by this policy.

UserGate defines its own stages and deadlines for the lifecycle of its solutions and products.

Subscriptions to additional modules and Technical Support, including vulnerability database updates and UserGate software updates, can be extended within 3 years after the date of discontinuation of sales of UserGate hardware and software products.

After the Technical Support period for a particular model is over, UserGate may offer a replacement for an equivalent new model.

At the moment, no end-of-sales dates have been defined for any of the released models of UserGate hardware and software systems (C, D, E, F, and X).

Lifecycle of UserGate Hardware and Software Systems

UserGate aims to provide its customers with the most up-to-date hardware and software systems (HSC). For this purpose, UserGate models are updated in a timely manner.

Lifecycle Stages for UserGate HSC Models

SR (Start Release) – the model is launched.
The model goes to the market.

EOS (End of Sale) – end of sale of the model.
The model is no longer sold after the EOS date. The customer can get spare parts replaced if they have a valid warranty agreement for the product.

EOP (End of Production) – end of production of the model.
The model is no longer manufactured after the EOP date. There is also no possibility to purchase spare parts or replace defective equipment under the valid warranty agreement.
If spare parts need to be replaced in order to fix an issue (for example, repair the product), the customer will have to find replacement options on their own.

EOL (End of Life) – end of support.
No service tickets for the model will be accepted by the Technical Support after the EOL date.

Transition Dates Within the UserGate Hardware Models Lifecycle

Lifecycle transition dates for a model are determined by UserGate independently based on the following rules (exceptions are possible):

SR = Date of official start of sales of a certain equipment revision
EOS = Date of start of sales of the next hardware revision
EOL = EOS + 3 years
EOP = EOL

UserGate aims to provide its customers with the most up-to-date versions of its own software. For this purpose, the current versions are updated in a timely manner.

Software Version Designations

Every software version designation has the V.F.S.B. format where:

V – stands for product version
F – stands for functionality
S – stands for stabilization
B – stands for build

For example, for the current version of 6.1.9.11836R:

6 – product version
1 – functionality
9 – stabilization
11836R – build

Stages of the UserGate Software Lifecycle

Start Release – A software version release is launched.
The software version is made generally available and can be downloaded from the UserGate portal.

EOS (End of Sale) – End of sales of the software version.
The software version is no longer sold and licenses for it are no longer issued after the EOS date. A newer software version is installed on every newly purchased piece of hardware.

EOSL (End of Support Life) – Support of the software version is limited.
After the EOSL date, bug fix patches are no longer issued for the software version and updates to security libraries (IDPS signatures, L7 application signatures, content filtering lists, IP lists, streaming antivirus databases, etc.) are no longer guaranteed. If a bug needs to be fixed or security libraries need to be updated in order to close the ticket, the customer will be suggested to update the UserGate software to the recommended version.

EOL (End of Life) – Support of the software version is terminated.
No more tickets are accepted by the Technical Support after the EOL date for the software version, and the software version is removed from the UserGate portal and becomes unavailable for download.

Lifecycle transition dates for a software version are determined by UserGate independently based on the following rules (exceptions are possible):

EOS = Date of release of the next software version
EOSL = EOS + 3 months
EOL = EOSL + 12 months

UserGate Software Version Update Recommendations
